It all started the night of September 15th when Father Miguel Hidalgo began the Mexican revolution that freed Mexico from Spanish rule. His famous speech to the people became known as “El grito de Delores” or the “Cry of the Delores”. Every September 16th, the streets of Mexico are filled with celebration, fireworks, food, and festive music. People can be heard shouting “Viva Mexico! Viva Hidalgo! Viva la Independencia!” in honor of their Independence Day.
